Collaborating as a Small Group

Book a tour

Want to see our facilities and learn more about what SYMin does? Then booking a tour is a great idea! We host tours on Mondays from 3:30-4pm and Thursdays from 5:45-6:15pm. We can support small groups of up to four or five on our tours. 

Host a Friday Fun Day event

Are you creative and enjoy a fun afternoon filled with snacks, games, or arts and crafts? We invite your help! Every Friday, we hold space in our schedule for volunteer groups to lead an activity during what we call Friday Fun Day. The activity is open to interpretation. In the past, this has looked like a sundae-making party, movie day or fall candy apple decorating bar. Some other ideas include seasonal crafts, exercise routines (e.g. yoga), or games (board or otherwise). You could share a unique skill or favorite pastime. You and your group would set up, decorate (if you like), provide supplies, lead the clients and tear down afterward. Our staff will be present, of course, to help you and introduce you to our clients.

Donation drives for our needed items 

Band together with family, neighbors or church members to collect needed items for our clients. You can check our urgent shopping list here. This list is updated with real time information from our supply inventory. Or you can donate the food and toiletry bags we provide clients on site and during our bi-weekly outreaches in the community. We've made donating these bags easy for you by providing a list of components that you purchase, assemble into sturdy (non-paper) bags and bring to us once completed. We encourage you to make notes of encouragement as well to put in the bags — clients love these! 

Sign your group up for our prayer newsletters 

Prayer team assignments are among the finest things we do for our clients. We truly want every request from our clients prayed over, and it would be impossible without our team of prayer warriors! Sign up for our prayer newsletter with your friends or small group and help us pray for each of our clients. 

Decorate in our Event or Learning Centers

We would love for small groups to decorate our Event Center and Learning Center rooms for holidays and the seasons. Whether it's pink and red hearts for Valentine's Day, green shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day or flowers for spring, we like to constantly redecorate the center to keep it fun and fresh for our clients! Our Event Center is one large room and perfect for a small group to decorate. We additionally have 5 smaller rooms upstairs in our Learning Center. You could decorate as many or as few as you feel comfortable with. You would provide decor and decorate. Staff will be on site to help! You can also set up a tour beforehand if it helps to determine what you will need.

Spend Spring Break with us 

We love to offer for groups to join us for their Spring Breaks. Those that join us can expect to learn about youth homelessness, how to help and will complete a variety of service projects. We are particularly good for high school or college-aged students but middle schoolers will also benefit from the experience.
