Event Center Activities:

Monday night game nights

A client favorite, Game Night sees many clients come to enjoy an array of choices, like a round of Uno or a heated game of Monopoly. Community is easily built around a shared activity such as a board game. That’s why we host this event for our clients. As a volunteer you would engage clients in their choice of game and make conversation with them. This event occurs every Monday evening from 5-6:15 pm.

Thursday night Talent Night

Join us for one of our most popular activities, Talent Night. This event is designed for clients to show off their skills and build positive self-esteem. Many sing, share jokes or recite original poems. As a volunteer, your job will be to cheer on our performers, have conversations with clients and even share a talent yourself. It’s a fun night! Talent Night is every Thursday from 5-6:15 pm. You can join us in-person at the Drop-in Center or virtually through Zoom.

Friday Fun Days 

Are you creative and enjoy a fun afternoon filled with snacks, games, or arts and crafts? We invite your help! Every Friday between 12-4 pm, we hold space in our schedule for volunteer groups to lead an activity during what we call Friday Fun Day. The activity is open to interpretation. In the past, this has looked like a sundae-making party, movie day or fall candy apple decorating bar. Other ideas include seasonal crafts, exercise routines (e.g. yoga), or games (board or otherwise). You could share a unique skill or favorite pastime. You and your group would set up, decorate (if you like), provide supplies, lead the clients and tear down afterward. Our staff will be present, of course, to help you and introduce you to our clients.

Sunshine Store:

Sorting donations and engage with clients

We have several dedicated times in our schedule for clients to access the Sunshine Store. During these times we need volunteers who can help sort donations and also engage with our clients and help them find anything they are looking for in the store. The shifts for the store are as follows:

Monday 11:30am-1:30pm and 2-4pm

Tuesday 11:30am-1:30pm and 3-5pm

Wednesday 11:30am-1:30pm and 3-5pm

Thursday 11:30am-1:30pm and 2-4pm

Want to see our facilities and learn more about what SYMin does? Then booking a tour is a great idea! We host tours on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-4pm and 5:45-6:15pm. Feel free to bring a friend or two to join you if you would like.
